August 8, 2026 · 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. · $149 · Maximum 4 photographers *From RAW to Final: Waterfall Editing Lab: $49 Join Eugene-based landscape photographer Jalen Oban for a small-group photography workshop at Sahalie and Koosah Falls in Oregon’s Central Cascades. During this four-hour field session, you’ll photograph two of Oregon’s most impressive waterfalls while learning how to make stronger images in real-world conditions. We’ll work through shutter-speed selection, manual exposure, composition, polarizer use, focusing, tripod technique, and how to simplify visually complicated forest scenes. This workshop is designed for beginner and intermediate photographers who understand the basic controls of their camera but want more confidence creating landscape images in the field. With a limited group size, each participant will receive individual guidance based on their experience, equipment, and creative goals. The workshop will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m on August 8th, 2026. and will include photography at both Sahalie and Koosah Falls, with additional opportunities along the McKenzie River trail. Participants may also add an optional live online 90-minute post-production class held after the workshop. During the editing session, Jalen will demonstrate his complete workflow for selecting, processing, and refining images captured during the workshop. Topics covered include: - Choosing shutter speeds for different water textures - Creating balanced waterfall compositions - Using polarizing and neutral-density filters - Managing exposure in bright water and dark forest conditions - Focusing and tripod techniques - Developing a consistent field workflow - Editing waterfall and forest images Participants should bring a mirrorless or DSLR camera, tripod, appropriate footwear, and weather-ready clothing.
